“I don’t want to constantly use food to motivate my dog.”  Yes, we do use food as one of our rewards.  Think about it, we enjoy being rewarded and recognized for good things and so does our dog.  We can eventually decrease the rate of reinforcement but its way more fun to learn when we get something good in return.
