Debra Lockhart – CPDT-KA had been working with All About the Dog since 2018, first as a student and then as a trainer.  She served on the Boards of both Humane Fort Wayne and the Fort Wayne Pit Bull Coalition and has been a  passionate volunteer for both organizations and the HFW Pet Promises program.  Debra and her dog Julius (pictured) were a Certified Therapy Dog team through The Alliance of Therapy Dogs for several years where Debra was also an official Tester/Observer.

Debra often tells people that she developed an interest in training because she had the worst puppy in the world. Of course that isn’t completely accurate, but she had been through multiple classes and numerous trainers with her dog Ray and hoped she could translate that learning to her dog Julius, but it just didn’t work without a guide. Going through official training with Julius is what set Debra on the path to becoming a trainer herself and becoming a Certified Professional Dog Trainer through CCPDT was a huge accomplishment. Learning to communicate better with her dog and to build that bond is what made a big difference in her relationship with Julius, and Debra enjoys helping dogs and their people forge that same deep and trusting connection through training. She is looking forward to helping you build that bond with your furry friend.
